Customer Review : Good but! : Aetrex Custom Select Series High Arch Orthotics Shoe Inserts for Men and Women - Men's 10 These arch supports seemed perfect, outside my shoes (Merrell Siren sport & New Balance walking shoes). But, inside my shoes, the arch area positioned too close to my heels, so felt uncomfortable. I trimmed the toe area of the supports to try and move the arch area of the support forward, but this did not work. So, now I can't return the arch supports. I wore my Merrell shoes once, with these supports in, hoping they would "settle in" to the right position, but they did not. I had one brief incidence of stabbing pain in my right arch/heel area after wearing my Merrells for about 3 hrs, with these in. I was hoping these supports would prevent this type of pain, so I was disappointed. I suspect the problem might be that the padding in the backs of my athletic shoes move my feet slightly forward, while the supports stay firmly positioned further back in the foot beds of the shoes.
